(A note from janet): I’d like to include a documentary here called Red Fever. While this documentary focuses on Indigenous influence in clothing, sports and democracy, it also aims to educate the artisan, student, and person on the many influences Indigenous culture has had on modern pop culture. This documentary was part of my Turtle Island Visual Culture course and I felt a sense of understanding but also disappointment knowing the things we take for granted, we never credited the Indigenous peoples who were on this land before us for them. I encourage you alongside your search and education to view this film, to get a better understand on how Indigenous culture has influenced Western pop culture.
